Our community services rely on highly qualified, dedicated staff to work with the children, youth and their families. Here you will find resources to help you plan your career in the children and youth service system.

 Early Childhood Education

Registered Early Childhood Educators play an important role in a child's early life.

They nurture relationships with families to support children's learning, development, health and well-being in a variety of settings. You can learn more about a career as a Registered Early Childhood Educator here.

  • Information about Colleges that offer Early Childhood Education qualifications

  • For internationally trained professionals who want to know more about equivalency

  • For staff currently working with young children who want to acquire their Early Childhood Education diploma through Apprenticeship

  • Learn more about becoming a Resource Consultant

  • Grants are available to help you:

    • earn your ECE Diploma

    • upgrade your qualifications

    • obtain Leadership Certification (e.g. Senior Leadership and Management in the Not-For-Profit Sector)

  • All Early Childhood Educators in Ontario must register with the College of Early Childhood Educators

 Home Child Care Providers

In Ontario, home child care providers who contract their services with a licensed private home child care agency experience many benefits. As a home child care provider in our community you can contract your services with the County of Wellington. In doing so, you will work in partnership with registered Early Childhood Educators (Home Child Care Advisors) to nurture relationships with families to support children's learning, development, health and well-being within your own home.

 Child and Youth Worker

Child and Youth Workers advocate for children, youth and families experiencing challenges, and strive to improve their physical and emotional lives. You can learn more about a career as a Child and Youth Worker here: information about Colleges that offer a Child and Youth diploma.

 Certified Ontario Teacher

To teach in Ontario's publicly funded elementary and secondary schools, a teacher must have a three-year postsecondary degree, completion of a four semester teacher education program and be certified by the Ontario College of Teachers. Learn more about qualifications and certification on the Ontario College of Teachers website
